LGBT Fertility Services: Giving You a Chance to Experience Parenthood
The Center for Fertility & Gynecology is proud to offer a spectrum of fertility treatment options to couples in gay, lesbian or bisexual relationships. It is our firm belief that having children is the right of any individual irrespective of his or her sexual orientation. CFG has been providing fertility care to non-traditional families since 1987.
Male couples
Conceiving a child in a male homosexual relationship requires the use of both an egg donor and a gestational surrogate. This can be arranged in one of two ways. One option employs the services of a traditional surrogate, who serves as both the egg donor and the gestational surrogate. Pregnancy is achieved by inseminating (intrauterine insemination) the traditional surrogate with sperm from one or both male partners, at the time of ovulation (midcycle). Several cycles of insemination may be required until pregnancy is achieved. Another option employs the services of both an egg donor and a gestational surrogate. In egg donation and surrogacy, in vitro fertilization (IVF) is performed using sperm from one or both male partners and eggs obtained from an egg donor. Resulting embryos are then transferred into the uterus of a gestational surrogate who carries the pregnancy. Success rates with this technique are high.
Female couples
Conceiving a pregnancy between two women requires the use of donor sperm. One or both female partners may play a biological role in this process. To achieve this, several options are available. One option employs artificial insemination with donor sperm at the time of ovulation. Another option employs IVF with donor sperm and one of the female partners' eggs. Either one of the female partners may then serve as recipients to of the resulting embryos. Success rates with this technique are high.
