SAFE GUARDING YOUR EGGS, SPERM & EMBRYOS THROUGHOUT YOUR IVF CYCLE.

By Paula Hovell on February 04, 2021

We understand you want to know everything is being taken care of as you embark on a life changing journey!  The Center for Fertility & Gynecology has recently installed RI Witness™ – an electronic tracking and witnessing system which uses radio frequency ID technology to monitor all IVF Laboratory activity to ensure that samples used during the IVF process do not become mixed up.  RI Witness safeguards eggs, sperm & embryos throughout an IVF cycle.

What is RI Witness?

RI Witness has been created to help minimize errors that may occur during IVF cycles.  This electronic witnessing system supports and guides embryologists in their daily work by monitoring sample movement from one dish or tube to another within the laboratory twenty-four-seven.

Taking Security to the Next Level.

In the past we carried out double witnessing manually, which is effective. However, this new system will make witnessing more efficient and circumvent any potential problems that have occurred in other hospitals/clinics.  Choosing a clinic with RI Witness installed allows you to rest assured that your eggs, sperm and embryos are being managed and tracked in the securest possible way throughout your IVF treatment. Our Center believes in going above and beyond, placing our patients at the forefront of our priorities as well as taking extra measures and every precaution for safeguarding your samples.

How Does It Work?

Each patient is assigned an ID card with their unique personal code.

ID tages containing this unique personal code are fixed to all plasticware holding patient samples.

Every work area in the lab detects wireles signals from these ID tags.  They are identified, tracked and recorded at each step of the ART process.

RI Witness confirms the identitiy of samples and allows the embryologists to proceed with insemination.

In the unlikely event that samples are mismatched, alarms will sound alerting the embryologist.  Proceedings are stopped hence preventing any potential errors.

Prior to embryo transfer, the patient's ID card is automatically checked against the tagged embryo dish.

RI Witness helps safeguard your samples during ART processes - from start to finish.
