While artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization (IVF) can be used to achieve these goals, the use of donor sperm and eggs is also common. Dr. Michael Vermesh and Dr. Tannaz Toloubeydokhti would like to discuss requirements for egg donation. This will cover some basics for patients who would like to use donor eggs as part of their fertility treatment as well as women who would like to donate their eggs to couples who are struggling with infertility.

The Effectiveness of Donor Eggs

Egg donation is a great option to consider for couples that are dealing with female infertility. Issues such as diminished ovarian reserve, premature ovarian failure, and early menopause mean that a woman will not have viable eggs of her own to use during an IVF procedure. With egg donation, a healthy, suitable donor of viable eggs offers the means for pregnancy and live birth through IVF.
