Many women decide to undergo tubal ligation for personal and medical reasons. It’s an effective form of birth control. Yet later in life, the same woman may change her mind about having children. While she could decide to adopt or undergo various fertility treatments, there is also the option of reversing a tubal ligation procedure.

Many patients ask us about the safety and effectiveness of tubal ligation reversal. Let’s go over this briefly below. If you have any further questions, be sure to contact The Center for Fertility and Gynecology in Tarzana, Thousand Oaks, Encino, Torrance, or Bakersfield, CA.

What Tubal Ligation Reversal Involves

During tubal ligation reversal, our team identifies the blockage and re-opens the fallopian tubes. The ends of the fallopian tubes are then reattached using circumferential stitches. We test the connection between the tubes with a safe blue dye test.

With the tubes re-opened, a patient should be able to get pregnant again.

The entire minimally invasive operation is performed through a tiny incision on the lower abdomen. The incision is no larger than 7 centimeters.

The Cost of Tubal Ligation Reversal

The price for tubal ligation reversal is $9,200. Additional surgical fees may be required for patients with a BMI of 25 or above. The exact cost of your procedure can be discussed as part of the consultation process.

How Successful Is the Reversal Procedure?

Overall, the success rate for tubal ligation reversal at our practice is relatively high. At the Center for Fertility and Gynecology, our success rate with the procedure is approximately 70%.

In this case, success means that patients who have undergone the reversal procedure have been able to get pregnant within one year of treatment.
